thrill issues you are exactly right - i had "legal tint" on a saab and mazda i had. I have heard the test is putting a sheet of paper on the inside you should be able to read it.
However, i was pulled over in Mt Lebo at 2 am (i was not drinking) to check the illegal tint and then fined for not up to date registration.
Two months later, a cop blows by me on the interstate - i see his brake lights go on. I said to my friends "he is pulling me over for my tint" - yep he slowed down and got behind me and pulled me over. Gave me a warning saying my tints were a couple percent too dark.
I wont ever tint a vehicle again - because its asking to get pulled over especially in a sports car. And i dont want a sign on me saying "pull me over"
What is screwed up is factory tints on "trucks and suvs" in the back windows is legal as dark as you want.
