Default Tires (not to start any wars..)

Hey guys,

I just went through and extensive research process trying to find tires that last longer then the 02s with out giving up too much performance. I think I have found a good compromise.

The problem would be the tire contact patch. Michelin does not list the contact patch so I can't say for sure but most 225/50R16 are going to be up to 1/2" narrower than the stock S02 tires rear. The front 205/55R16 are normally about 1/3" wider than the S02.
What can happen is the car doesn't handle the same because the stagger front to rear is way off. The advantage of the RE750 on the S2000 is the contact patch with 225/50R16 front and 245/45R16 rear is within 1/10" both front and rear of the OE tires.
Because we do not get to test on the S2000 I am glad to see you were happy with the tires.

The width on the 225 rear looks like a full 8.5 inches, I haven't measured the fronts.

Why not upgrade to the S03's? They are just as sticky as the 02's, if not more, and are 10x better in the rain. Just my $.02.

I also had the RE750's on my last car, and thought they were great for the price.

Is it really an upgrade? I have my doubts about them being just as sticky as the S02's. I haven't really done any research on them though. I guess when the time comes and something happens to scare me I will look at changing. It just hasn't happened (to me) yet. These tires are the best I have ever driven! If somebody was to convince me that there is something better in the dry and wet and I would switch.

I just got back from having lunch with Nosman. I was telling him about my little sunday drive yesterday. I took a 90 degree curve way too fast and the rear end stepped out on me. It did not scare me at all. I felt in control the whole time! I just stayed in the throttle and it corrected itself. I just love the way the car handles now. You all know how I drive. I guess I am afraid that if I switched I would lose some of the confidence I have in the cars handling.

I changed based on the comments at tire rack. It was rated (at least at the time) overall better than the SO2's, plus I hydroplaned on the Pkwy at 45 MPH in some rain (nothing heavy), and lost all faith in those tires.

Here's the Tire Rack comparison between the two. S03 matches or beats the S02 in all categories.

I drive like you and did not notice ANY performance difference between the two (except wet traction, which was much, much, better).

Anyone know anything about the Toyo Proxes T1S? I've heard a few good reviews if it. Anyways, I run S03s on the rear and S02s on the front. I just got new fronts cuz poor alignment before I bought the car caused premature wearing. The camber angle was too far outward at the bottom and ate up a 3 inch wide strip on the inside of the tires....

I've got some 02s for the front with 15K on them, if anyone is interested. I don't think I am going back.

The 03s are good too, I know lots of folks run them and are very happy with them. I sure don't' want to start any firestorms here, the 02's 03's and the Fusions appear to all have the same tread pattern, so I felt that while the compound might be longer lasting, I would expect the wet performance to be *similar* between these.

The PE2 was introduced in April of this year and I was really impressed with the tests and reviews I read. [I]"In the wet, the Pilot Exalto PE2 performed in a class by itself, posting fastest average overall lap time a full 1.5 seconds ahead of the next quickest tire in this test. The overall level of grip was above what we usually find with most other Ultra High Performance Summer tires, combined with very balanced handling made the
