I tried using a HD on the Airport. Depends on what you want to do with it, but I found it to be unacceptably slow.

My airport won't recognize the HD.. But it works fine connected to the iMac directly.

depends on how it's formatted if the airport will take it or not

yeah, just a straight share off a machine is better

I think it's cuz I've got an older dome Airport that only had printer sharing. I shold still be able to enable file sharing and let the other iMac backup through the airport.
