Default Huntsville's TAC & TVR

TAC [Twickenham Auto Club] and TVR [ Tennessee Valley Region - Sports Car Club of America] are the two most active autocross clubs in Huntsville. TAC & TVR are very close, since most of the autocrossers in TVR started in TAC and hold dual memberships.

TAC Website
TAC, being an independent local club, is more oriented towards beginners. Historically, autocross was a small portion of what TAC did, and recently there has been some interest in getting back to that diversity.

TVR Solo #6 - Sunday, September 17 at Joe Davis Stadium.

This is a small parking lot event, so the speeds are lower and handling is more important. If there is a large turnout, there will be two courses. You will get to run both, with your score being the total of your best time from each.

More info on TAC Forum

As always, watching is free. Riders (12 and up with a Snell helmet that fits) are allowed at this event.

TAC & TVR now have Google calendars:

TAC Calendar on TAC website

TVR Calendar on TAC website

There should be a "Subscribe" link in the bottom right corner of each calendar, which will add them to your Google calendar.

John,

Do you have to be a SCCA member to do TVR events?

The only TVR event requiring SCCA memebership, is the National Tour, June 2-3. All others are Regional or Super Regional, and only require membership to earn points and get the member discount.

That being said: I believe they still offer the deal, where you can get you first Regional event free, if you join at the event. May 12 should qualify for that.

I need to confirm all this. I will post the detail, when I get them from the new Solo Chairman for TVR.

Hey John C ... do you think that the SCCA would be willing to provide a gift cert for a free membership for the SESM raffle? Since it looks like we have a number of folks that are getting more interested in auto-x, it might be good publicity for them.

Do you mind checking that out for us?

(that would be more transferrable between regions than a TAC membership would be, although that would be cool too for one of us HSV folks )
