The AP2 cars have a clutch delay valve built into the slave cylinder to reduce shock to the differential

THe CDV isn't bad for the trans, it just slows the clutch release when you "dump" the clutch to reduce the drivetrain shock.

It also sacrifices some clutch slippage high load upshifts

Ah... so by doing what wilbur did, it will... what? whats the major benefit here?

Is it a necessary mod? I'm planning on FI by the end of '08.

It removed the delay valve so now the clutch doesn't slip on the 1-2 upshift.

He can also shock the drivetrain all he wants.
