Put me on the list please!

This sounds really great... If other cars are welcome, or at least a passenger allowed, I will definitely be up for the Talladega day once details are worked out. Will anyone else here be all stocked out like me? I'm a little concerned on that front, but I've been dying to get on a track. The innocent public is paying the consequences via my driving. Will I need a roll bar? Will I have to purchase a helmet? Thanks guys

ROLL TIDE, Tide2k & welcome aboard.

You don't need a roll bar for Little Talladega, but you do need a helmet, Snell 2000(?) or better. No motorcycle helmets.

I would suggest riding with/following someone for several laps to help you learn the lines and stop you from being freaked out.

Make that a Snell SA 2000 or newer.

I second riding with or following someone for a few laps. Also if you could get an experienced driver to ride with you or drive your car (at 9/10's) with you in it for a few laps it would help both early and late in the day. After you've gotten fairly comfortable it can be a big help to have a better driver show you what you could be doing better.

Is an open face helmet OK or does it need to be enclosed? I'm thinking about participating in the next Alabama track day but I do not have a helmet yet.

FYI: When making your decision about helmets, you may want to take the following advisory from SCCA into account:
Participant Bulletin
DATE: November 16, 2004
FROM: National Staff
TO: All Participants
SUBJECT: Airbag Advisory
It has been brought to the attention of SCCA Technical Services that the use
of full-face or closed-face helmets while driving vehicles with active airbag
restraint systems may result in injuries in the event of a crash that deploys
the airbag. Because of the location of the steering wheel relative to a
driver?s position, the airbag axis is on a level with the driver?s chin. In a
crash with airbag deployment, contact with the chin area of a full-face
helmet can be so powerful ?that the risk of fractures to the jaw cannot be
ruled out? (Hubert Gramling, FIA Institute, FT3/AF, 18.5.1999). This applies
to vehicle that may be used in Solo, RallyCross, High Performance Car
Control Clinics, etc.
Therefore, it is highly recommended that full-face helmets not be used in
vehicles with functional airbag systems. Potentially more restrictive language
is currently being considered for 2005, which could appear in an early 2005
issue of FasTrack. If you have any questions, please contact the SCCA at
(800) 770-2055.

^ Interesting I would have never even taken that into consideration.
