Default Bama Track day thread!

Saturday May 12 TGPR with S2katlanta. Registration coming in April.....

This thread is for gauging interest in a track day at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway Some time this spring. The track is currently closed for renovations, but will re open in febuary. I want to get a rough idea of how many folks would like to attend. I need to know this info to find out how much it will cost per person. I don't know if you guys would be interested in a weekday event, but that would be much cheaper than a weekend.

I do know that the Z nationals are holding a track day with instructors on friday March 23. Not sure if you guys would want to get out on the track with a bunch of nissans or not....but they don't seem to mind other makes at their event. The cost is only $99. I will most likely attend this event... If there is enough interest I will try to find out about our own track day....if there is only a few of us up for going to the track, the Z nationals will no doubt be our best bet.

Post up if you want to have some fun.

would this be a full on track day/weekend with instructors or more of an open lapping day where you're by yourself going at your own pace?

I would love to attend a track day. I took my civic out there a couple of years back and it was a blast. Keep us updated.

This would be us renting the track for the day. No instructors.....unless we provided them. Here what I am looking at.

Auto Club Event / Driving School
Max10 cars on track at one time
Timed events allowed
No aggressive passing
1 Ambulance required
Minimum 4 corner workers recommended
Insurance certificate required

I would like to get 30 people to attend. I will post up in other communities to help reach that number. If we got 30 it would be about $130. that would include corner workers and and ambulance.

I've been itching to run on a track or autocross.

I'm game. The last time I went it was 100 per person on a Friday. For 10 people.

You might check with John to see if TAC or local SCCA would be interested in an assist on this ... again, depending on participation and the potential benefit that either of those organizations might pick up for offering their help.

I know that after watching Crowe and the other two events I spectated at, most of those drivers could provide valuable pointers, whether certified instructors or not.

That's definitely something I was thinking about, Chuck. I was just waiting for John to reply to this thread.
