Thumbs down Soft Top with Glass available in Greece

I just had a call from the guy who made the soft top conversion from plastic to glass to my car and told me that there will be some available soft tops with glass for sale.

The total price is 1.500 Euro!

In this price are included the following:

- Soft top with glass. (from MY05)
- Hardtop Strikers. (kleistra)
- Wiring harness, illuminated switch (inside the car), relay, for the rear defroster.
- Top removal, conversion on your existing frame, new top installation.
- Electrician work for the defroster to work.

All above items are New & Genuine Honda parts.

For more info call 210 3472459 and ask for Perry.
His workshop is located in Piraios Ave and he is specialized in S2000 parts, service, tuning... etc.

As I have already mention in the forum THIS IS THE BEST MOD FOR EARLY S2000!!!!!!!

LIKE THE GLASS BUT PREFER THE VISABILITY OF THE PLASTIC

I agree with you firefly. Both soft top versions have their positives and negatives.

Year 00-02 Soft top

Wider visibility area
Plastic window can be replaced if damaged

No visibility when humidity applies to the rear plastic window
No rear defogger
Eventually it wears off with marks/fogging

Year 03-05 Soft top

Rear defogger
Clear visibility at all times
No marks/fogging

Small visibility area
Rear window cannot be replaced if damaged and the whole soft top has to be replaced instead

PS: fire fly press the CAPS LOCK to stop shouting.

i believe there is no comparison between them!
if you see both soft tops one next to the other, the plastic window looks "plastic"
cheap!
last weekend i took for a ride an s04 and every time i looked trough its mirror i could see the difference!

You really believe that the plastic window has any advantages at all ???!!!!

The glass can be replaced, and the bigger blurred visibility from the plastic window applies (looking from the internal mirror) only for 3-4 cm in the bottom end of the soft top.
Is this a reason for preferring the plastic rear window???!!!

I think its just a financial issue of whether someone believes its worth to make this conversion in his car.

I had plastic rear window in my first MIATA (MKI) and I will never go back to this feeling of semi fogging rear view at night!!! For me the glass/defrosting rear window of the f/l model was one of the reasons to buy it!!

I believe the rear glass window has great advantages. The only disadvantage that has put me off replacing my soft top, is the fact that the glass is not replacable whilst the plastic can be replaced.

And you all know that some people can be jealous and agressive around here.

In the mean time am going through the S2000 Service Manual and am trying to figure out how I can custom replace only the rear glass. Once I figure out a way I will do it as well.

yesterday i started a topic "somebody broke my rear window"
hoping to find a solution to the following problem
(Rear window cannot be replaced if damaged and the whole soft top has to be replaced instead).
i didn't read any answers to make me happy.
but this is life!
you cannot have everything.
i like the rear glass window that much that i will put it on anyway
but i am sure that when i will make the conversion and have the glass top on
i will find a solution
