Greek S2000 Owners: Day trip to Nafplio
On October 17th, the Greek S2000 owners‘ community made a day trip to the historic seaport town of Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece. Fifteen cars set off against a rain forecast driving through the winding roads of Peloponnese.
One could say we were driven by our passion for the S2000. This also gave us the opportunity to spend some time in the company of like-minded and passionate members as we don’t always have the opportunity to meet as often as we’d like to.
The breathtaking scenery compensated for the long journey as some members had to cover more than 150 miles to get to the drive. It also helped that the rain stayed away. Perhaps the gods conspired to give us great driving weather.
Our first stop was at Epidaurus, where we gazed at the beautiful view of the Saronic Gulf. We indulged ourselves with warm beverages and refreshments as we took in the beautiful sight of the sea.
Then we headed towards our final destination, the town of Nafplio. We strolled down to the town centre and took some photos at the castle of Palamidi which was used as the prison cell of Theodoros Kolokotronis, one of the leaders of the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire.
Soon enough, our stomachs kicked into VTEC and started grumbling so we all sat down to dine in the picturesque village and devoured the local delicacies. It was a memorable day for all of us and I’m sure the next drive idea is already playing on the minds of all those who attended.
