Default S2000 Track Day: Carolina Motorsports Park

***Update***
The track will officially open to us at 8:00am. You are requested to be there at 7:00am so that we can get the inspection and the drivers meet out of the way early. Tech inspection will just be a visual check off by either me or Dewain or both.

The S2000 Atlanta Club has reserved Carolina Motorsports Park for July 15, 2005. This will be a full day at the track 8AM-5PM. The race track will allow up to 20 cars to run at a time, but smaller run groups will probably be assigned.

The fee will be $221.13 per car that will be non-refundable! (a $100 deposit is required to hold your spot, with the balance due no later than July 1st) If you signup and can not make it, then it is your responsiblility to sell your spot or fill it.

Please be aware that this is one of the best raceways in the area and will allow a stock S2000 to achieve speeds of about 100+ MPH on the straight stretchs. It is our intent to provide professional driving instructers at this event and will be included as part of the entry fee. This is the best deal you will find on this track w/ instruction.

The requirements to run this raceway will be: a SCCA approved helment (Snell 95 or higher), long pants, valid driver's license, insurance, and closed toe shoes.

Please signup quickly to reserve your spot. These spots will not last long. The entire payment must be made online and can be made via credit card at http://www.paypal.com to richardtav@mindspring.com.

For payment questions, PM Richard (Doctor T) here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ODE=4&MID=9383
or email him at richardtav@mindspring.com

Spectators and guests are welcome.

I hope to see you all there..... It will be a blast!

Carolina Motorsports Park Track Layout:

For a detailed Track Layout ---> http://www.turn1motorsports.com/imag...diagrambig.jpg

Facilities:

In its first year of operation, Carolina Motorsports Park is intended to be used for club racing and track rentals only, and will have limited facilities for spectators. The large, flat, 21 acre paddock is grassed with gravel service roads and has many trees. Only the west track pit lane has been included in the first phase of operations, the east track pits to be added once the facility has become fully established. Race control and timing and scoring facilities are also temporary at this time with specifically built facilities expected to follow within a few years. The general goals of the owners of CMP are to establish the basic circuit as a top level, safe and effective facility for their targeted user groups before developing it further as a major spectator venue.

For more info, PM Dewain27. Thanks

I have secured a group rate at the Executive Inn in Kershaw for the 14th and the 15th. They are the closest hotel to the track and usually cater to race teams or race events. Their contact information is as follows:

Executive Inn-Kershaw
301 S. Hampton St
Kershaw, SC 29067

Reservations:
Phone: (803) 475-7575

Please mention that you're with the S2000 Atlanta group and your group rate. Group rates are as follows:

single queen: $39.95 per night plus tax
double: $44.95 per night plus tax

Should you have any problems, ask for Ashish, the manager.

No, we don't need instructors. We just want to have a few on site incase it's anybody's first time or if someone just wants some extra instruction. It never hurts to learn something new, especially if it's part of the package.

In the past, we opened the tracks to other cars after the S2000's had a chance to fill up first. I'm not sure what the policy is on this track day. I PMed Dewain and hopefully he'll answer soon.

Also, Dewain had mentioned that we could go up to 50 cars initially. I'm not sure if we reduced that to 20 or what the plan is exactly. Again, something Dewain will have to address once he checks the board.
