What scares me about those pics is that in the first pic, the seatbelt frame obviously detached from the frame of the car. I am surprised that anyone could survive an accident like this with such a massive failure of the seatbelt.

Where do you see that? I don't see any evidence of the seatbelt frame being detached. If you're referring to that large cut in the roofline, I think that was probably done by an extraction tool like the jaws of life to get the driver out of there. Looks like all the safety mechanisms worked perfectly fine for this driver as he lived and didn't break anything.

Actually, this story was posted where I work (Honda R&D in Ohio) and where the TL was developed. After seeing these pictures I decided that after I get married in June the wife will get either an Accord or a TSX. Was previously considering a 02-04 BMW 325i sport 5-speed.

A person who I work with was hit head on in his CR-V by an idiot talking on his cell phone. The other guy crossed over into his lane. Both cars were doing roughly 50-60mph. The other car was a late 90's Monte Carlo. My friend only suffered a broken arm. The other guy was in the hospital for quite some time and in critical condition.

Yet another person who was driving an Accord recently was hit by a school bus and it was a head on offset crash I think similar to the TL. He suffered only a broken arm and ankle so I hear.

In my opinion, any Honda or Acura is one of the safest cars you can buy...
