Default TRIED RA-1 IN THE REAR

So i ordered some ra-1 for the rear on my car 245/45 non shaved..... put them on another set of rear rims and swaped them over for last sundays auto-x. well i stll have brand new s-02's on the front and needless to say the car started to push like crazy. I have never ran a stick tire like that in th rear.. so i was wondering if it was becure the rear had more grip or i just need to run them so they wear down( they have alot of block movement). so any ideas will help. I've been autocrossing for some time now but never in a rwd car , i'm only used to setting up awd cars.
Thanks

Well, yeah. What else would you expect? If you increase the grip in the rear but not in the front, the car is obviously going to start to understeer.

yeah wtf?!

Lots of sicky rubber in back (tho the RA1 isn't the best race tire for auto-x) and not sticky in front. Total recipe for understeer.

Hmmm, shocker! Yeah, if you're just autoX I'd say go Hoosiers or Kumho's. And I'd say buy 4 of them.

Hmm, maybe you guys could help me too - I took all four tires off and just ran on the rims at my local track day. I frickin' HATED IT!! WTF?? So which rims would be the best setup for me? JDM only, please.

It seems your problem is you forgot to use a matching set of R-compound tires. Stock rims would do fine with these.

Kay's don't be too put off, you are just being teased for what would be considered an obvious faux-pas to an experienced R&C type. On the off chance you aren't trolling for flames let me point out your 3 crucial mistakes:

1: Mix and match: Never mix tire types. Run the same type on all 4 corners and never and I mean never run R-compounds and street tires together.

2: Never run RA-1s unshaven. They must be shaved unless they are for rain and even then I'd shave them. They suck unshaven as has been noted before on many occasions (try searching for "shave ra-1" in this forum.

3: RA-1 is a track tire, not an auto-x tire. It's not designed for auto-x. You would be better off with Hoosier A* tires or Kumho.

I've either wasted my time (although not much) or helped you out and answered your question. Only you know which.

Good luck!
